Rare Manuscript Returned

Who did the rare, 12-century manuscript belong to anyway? Was it loot? Should the book be returned to the Cathedral of Benevento, even though the missal appears to have been purchased by Captain Douglas Ash "in good faith" and passed on to the British Library at auction?
According to Charlotte Higgins, for The Guardian, the 12-century missal--"written in the rare Beneventan script"-- will now be "returned to its home city of Benevento, in southern Italy, according to a ruling." Read on:
