Carson McCullers is famous for novels like The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, which was a featured selection for the Oprah Book Club. McCullers wrote in the Southern Gothic tradition. Her novels are often dark, with lonely and isolated characters. McCullers once said, "Writing, for me, is a search for God."
