To Visit Walden Pond...

Wednesday January 30, 2008
Walden - Henry David ThoreauWalden Pond is one of the places in my literary imagination that I want to see--to touch the water, take in the smells, and experience the place. I know it won't be as I've imagine it, nor do I really care. But, the lines about the pond in winter--the sights, the sounds and all--have stayed with me, and are only refreshed and invigorated each time I read Walden.

Why did Henry David Thoreau stay at Walden Pond, and what did he learn there? Did he learn something about nature, literature, and being? How did he make a mark on the history of American literature by penning his lines about his time on Walden Pond? Read more about Henry David Thoreau and his adventures at the cabin on Walden Pond. Discover Walden and other works by Henry David Thoreau. Read a review of Walden.
