Zora Neale Hurston wrote stories, novels, plays, and folklore. A born storyteller, she was part of the Harlem Renaissance of African-American writers. "I have been in Sorrow's kitchen and licked out all the pots," she wrote of her life. "Then I have stood on the peaky mountain wrapped in rainbows with a harp and a sword in my hands." Read on:
