To Sing... To Kill a Mockingbird

Saturday July 5, 2008
To Kill a MockingbirdWhy would you kill a mockingbird?

Harper Lee is famous for her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird (she also received the Pulitzer Prize). In this famous work of fiction, Harper Lee wrote: "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."

Here are more quotes , from To Kill a Mockingbird. Also, take a look at questions, a review, and related books.

What do you think about the novel? When you first read it, what struck you about the book?

This is one of my favorite reads. I can still feel Scout’s giddy fear hiding outside Boo Radley’s house. She was so wonderfully portrayed in the movie.

I live in the South now and have only recently come to know mockingbirds. They greet me every morning on my walk, and often make me think of To Kill a Mockingbird.

I just finished the novel 2 days ago and I really loved it. Saw the film last nite but it did not do justice to the book in my mind. Book is richer, with much more detail and insight. I love Miss Maudie and she is hardly shown in the film. A must read ! When Tom was convicted I brushed away a teardrop.

wow!what a coincidences!i just finneshed reading “to kill a mocking bisd”book,
by the last day of the month of May or the first days of the month of June. The book is nicelly written, easy to read, the language easy to understand, and after the first pages, it’s difficult to put this book down,it represent “the American Valu system”,
the American wit. The writer described, painted a picture of the average every day
life in an american town, using common sense, and emphansising on social values and decency as the best choice to have a decent life….it’s very interesting book and the writer, she was up to the task, and thanks to Her effort…
