Follow me on:

Miguel Angel Asturias was born on October 19, 1899 in Guatemala City. He became a poet and novelist, who would become well-known for El Senor Presidente (1946). He received the Nobel Prize in literature for his contributions. In his Nobel Acceptance speech, Asturias wrote: "If you write novels merely to entertain--then burn them! This might be the message delivered with evangelical fervour since if you do not burn them they will anyway be erased from the memory of the people where a poet or novelist should aspire to remain. Just consider how many writers there have been who--down the ages--have written novels to entertain! And who remembers them now?"

So, what do you think? What is the purpose of novel-writing? Should we entertain?

He was right!…to be entertained for once,is nothing..than to read them and learn.,anyway readers should afterall choose a novel that’s worth to read, worth to give in thier precious time.
you do have a lot of picks, why not both?..learned and be entertained at the same time?
There are lots of good authors out there?!
