Edith Newbold Jones [Wharton] was born on January 24, 1862 to George Frederic and Lucretia Jones. She was to become a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, with works that include: "The House of Mirth" (1905), "The Custom of the Country" (1913), and "The Age of Innocence" (1920).
