I read from five to seven books a week and can only hope people are not in a literary decline. Reading is relaxing, keeps the synapses firing and is a wonderful aid to the vocabulary. I think if people step away from the bar stools watching football, etc. or those disgusting reality shows and start reading they will do themselves and their children a service. Maybe the non-readers are not happy with their own company or just want mental stroking instead of intellectual exercise.
