Louis Becke Birth:

George Lewis Becke, known as Louis, was born on June 18, 1855. in Port Macquarie, on the New South Wales North Coast. His father, Frederick Becke, was a clerk.
Louis Becke Death:

Louis Becke drank heavily during the last years of his life. He was heavily in debt, and his literary reputation seemed to be on the decline. On February 18, 1913, Louis Becke died of cancer at York Hotel, on King Street, in Sydney, Australia.
Louis Becke Marriage:

On February 10, 1886, Louis Becke married Elizabeth ("Bessie") Maunsell. Bessie and Louis separated in 1896 (she filed for divorce in 1903 and 1910).
Louis Becke Achievements:

Louis Becke published his first story in 1893. His first collection of stories, "By Reef and Palm," appeared in 1894. His stories were popular, but he wasn't financially successful.
