Aikin, Anna Laetitia (1743-1825)
British writer. Anna Laetitia Aikin, also known by her married name, Barbauld, wrote poetry about the early years of Britain's era of world power.

Akhmatova, Anna

Alcman (c. 625 BC)

Alcott, Louisa May (1832-1888)
American Writer. Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, Louisa May Alcott is famous for the novel, Little Women. Her father, Amos Bronson Alcott was an important (and controversial) man of the time.
