Day 21 - December 21

Celebrate the 25 Days of Christmas

By Esther Lombardi, About.com

It's the twenty-first day of December. Celebrate Divalia, the Roman festival. We also celebrate Yalda. It's the shortest day of the year: Winter Solstice. On December 21, Thomas Becket was born in 1118. Heinrich Böll was born on this date in 1917.

On this day, the William Bradford and the other Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock. Take a look at the reading selection for today.

What do writers say?

"Sing hey! Sing hey!
For Christmas Day;
Twine mistletoe and holly.
For a friendship glows
In winter snows,
And so let's all be jolly!"
