(1913-1960) French writer. Albert Camus was born on November 7, 1913 in Mondovi, Algeria. His father was an agricultural worker, and his mother was an illiterate charwoman. With famous works like The Stranger, and The Plague, Camus is recognized as a master of existentialism. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1957.
