Definition:

Have you ever read a book in which you knew how the book was going to end way before you reached the conclusion? In some of the greatest works of literature, the author uses foreshadowing to drop hints. These vague suggestions may take on a prophetic tone in a work of fiction. The writer may also use symbols to foretell future events.
