Reading On Nineteen Eighty-Four left me with the impression that I was participating in a book discussion group--without leaving my place. You might just find yourself yelling out loud "Yes!" or "No!"--as you adamantly agree or disagree with the various contributors. The contributors obviously care a great deal about the world's future and they invoke an emotional response as they discuss how Orwell's views may or may not have any relevancy to our "real" world.
