Leo Tolstoy Biography

Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy was born on September 9, 1828--he's commonly referred to as "Leo Tolstoy" in English. He's recognized as an important Russian writer (he wrote novels, short stories, plays and essays). His epic novel, War and Peace and Anna Karenina are usually considered his greatest works.

He was also a social reformer, pacifist, and Christian anarchist.
